Ditch Mess turns to Ditch Improvement....

As anyone around here knows the White Rock Ditch Company came in this winter and re-established their ditch easement going through the golf course.  As many people have also noticed, we have been able to shape, sod, seed and cover these areas and everyone I have talked to has viewed what has happened as an aesthetic improvement.  Here are a few before and after pictures, with more to come....

Ditch Spoils sitting along the banks

Not a very pleasant sight, but with some time and some elbow grease....

Some soil was hauled off, the rest was shaped and tied in to the existing terrain...

Sod that was going to be lost due to the Fowler 51 project was cut, transported and laid out...

The sod is being grown in and other areas along the banks had the soil amended, finish raked, seeded and then covered by a protective netting....

This is how we sit today.  With more good weather and some time, these areas  will all be grown in and will be viewed as an improvement to the golf course.

Never a bad time...

The weather throughout Colorado and most of the U.S this March has been incredibly dry and warm for this time of year.  This all changed today and right now we are experiencing some rain/snow on the golf course, and I can't argue that it isn't a great thing.  This is giving us some great natural precipitation and a chance to accomplish a few items on the golf course since it can't be mowed.  Something on my list that moved its way to the top of the agenda this morning was fixing the mainline settlement on #14 landing area.  Here are some pics from this morning...

The sod from the fairway was cut when it was drizzling, not raining and was moved off to the side

Top soil was added to the sunken area and raked in to the existing soil to avoid any issues with layering

The sod was then re-laid over the area.  Once the snow melts off we'll  topdress and roll the sod and the area will be good as new.
